Gardening Essentials Workshop
Time & Location
About The Event
Join us as we explore the biological science behind successful veggie and flower gardening in a cozy, hands-on environment. Hosted in the beautiful Ponderosa Classroom of florist, Katie Davis of Ponderosa & Thyme in downtown Salem, we'll cover these things and more:
--direct seeding vs. transplanting
--tools of the trade
--garden design and layout for your individual plot of land
--the basics of soil compilation
We will also spend our time together practicing and developing wisdom focused on the social science that is required for our gardens and selves to flourish--meaning, we intend to help you connect your hearts to the earth and your intentions as much as we intend to offer you practical skills and knowledge.
Taught by Huckleberry Co-Founder, Jill Snell--a former organic vegetable farmer who is thrilled to get her hands dirty alongside anyone interested in growing their own food (and flowers!). Jill will utilize a combination of lecture, 1:1 time, hands-on activities and journaling space as she walks you through her personal Huckleberry growing curriculum. Attendees will receive a workbook full of resources to refer back to as they begin their gardening journeys at home. They will also be receiving multiple vegetable, herb and flower plant starts and seeds to take home with them--that's right, you'll be walking away with everything you need (except the soil!) to begin your own healthy garden at home. Huckleberry's plant starts are currently germinating in Jill's greenhouse, waiting to go home with you!
Catered lunch will be provided mid-day.
If this sounds like your cup of tea and you've been aching to begin your garden, or to finally go from a growing guessing game, to an intentional, flourishing garden, please join us. We'd love to have each of you!
